The OC Meets NYC

It’s a Sunday in NYC, and who is staying at my hotel?  Bea, Anita and Amaia.  They arrived last night, and today we’re meeting Pierre and Grant at their place before walking to brunch.  Julie’s flight was scheduled for later in the afternoon, so she will also be joining us, while Judy’s flight was in the morning.

The four of us met for a cup of coffee, walked a bit, and then picked up a cab to go to the Upper East Side.

It is always a pleasure going to Pierre and Grant’s.  Their home is so comfortable, and they are so hospitable.  We had drinks and had a great visit.  I hadn’t seen Anita and Bea, let alone Amaia, in years.  I still cannot remember the last time I saw Bea, but it really didn’t matter – it was as if no time had passed.  That is a sign of a good friendship.

We had a delectable, leisurely brunch at Quality Eats.

After lunch, we walked Julie back to her luggage, bid her, Pierre, and Grant “adieu,” and walked to Central Park.

It wasn’t until this walk that I realized where “The Met” was located.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the Americas; it holds over two million pieces of work and is one of the most visited museums in the world.   The first portion of the Met was built in 1880, located on the east side of Central Park.

We walked on to Fifth Avenue to visit the OC girls’ play areas:  Bergdorf Goodman, Louis Vuitton, etc.  My favorite spot was, thanks to their clean bathrooms, The Plaza Hotel. Oh sure, I also enjoyed the wall decor:

Of special interest, this Sunday afternoon was the traffic control on Fifth Avenue:

We had reservations for sushi in NoHo (north of Houston), about two miles from Battery Park, at Bond ST Sushi.  We hailed a car to get there, and as I recall, it was in the middle of a residential neighborhood.  The restaurant is described as having style and substance.  A comment on their website says, “Beautiful people out to see and to be seen.”  I don’t know if we were seen, but we were certainly heard.
